Maggie comes to the Association from the Nova Scotia Museum (NSM). She was the Interpretation Researcher for the Innovation, Collections and Infrastructure Unit. Maggie was the recipient of the ANSM Award of Excellence in Museum Practices, Individual Contribution in 2016 for her leadership in the significant development of The Toolbox for Museum School Programs, an example of an innovative solution that was created in direct response to the current needs of museums and educators in Nova Scotia.<\/p>\n<p>She is\/was a member of the Association of Nova Scotia Museums Education and Training Task Force for the Museums Studies Program (2010 \u2013 2016); NSM Interpretation Working Group (since 2013); and the Canadian Museums Association National Conference Committee for Halifax (2015-2016).<\/p>\n<p>As Acting Manager of Collections for the NSM she led the Collections Unit through the first Museum Evaluation Program administered by ANSM. Maggie has worked on significant interpretation projects including the \u201cFirst Fisher of Nova Scotia\u201d exhibit at the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic and the NSM 150 exhibit \u201cMuseum Making: An Invitation.\u201d She has worked at historic Haliburton and Shand Houses in Windsor, Nova Scotia as well as the Museum of Natural History where she coordinated the Museum School Loans Program. She is bilingual in French and English and is familiar with Scottish Gaelic.<\/p>\n<p>Maggie is excited to take on the role of Executive Director for the Association of Nova Scotia Museums. She brings a long history of collaboration between the Nova Scotia Museum system and various provincial stakeholders in natural and cultural history interpretation. We are looking forward to having her lead us through the next two years. Maggie\u2019s contract with ANSM will be through the NSM. At the end of two years, she will have the opportunity to stay on with ANSM or return to the Provincial Government.
