Wearing Another Hat: Fundraising in Museums with Charles MacKenzie & Adam Langer REGISTRATION FORM

Working in a museum today often means balancing core responsibilities with the growing need to generate a growing amount of revenue, particularly as government funding becomes less predictable. For many museum professionals, fundraising is no longer optional, it’s becoming an essential part of sustaining programs, collections, and community impact. At the same time, it’s being added to an already full workload, without dedicated development staff or additional support.

This practical and encouraging session is designed for museum professionals who are navigating this shift and finding themselves fundraising “off the side of their desk.” Through real-life examples and low-lift strategies, the session will help reframe fundraising as a natural extension of your purpose and public service role. You’ll learn how to make the most of the time and tools you already have, build donor relationships in an authentic and comfortable way, and identify funding opportunities that align with your organization’s scale and strengths. Whether it’s strengthening your case for support, making better use of everyday communications, or turning existing work into funding opportunities, you’ll leave with practical steps you can take right away.
