I feel very fortunate to have had this internship at the Association of Nova Scotia Museums, and the last eight weeks have flown by. I have learned a lot, and gained some valuable skills and experience.

I have worked remotely from Edmonton the entire time. I had wondered if the three hour time difference while working remotely might be difficult, but it has not been an issue at all. Everyone has been welcoming and helpful, and Zoom calls can be a great substitute to meeting in person, as we all know from working during the pandemic. It has been great to get to know the ANSM team over the past eight weeks.

I have done so much over my time here. Some of my projects have included creating Mi’kmaq cultural affiliations in the database, writing a background of the four founding cultures, researching Reserves in Nova Scotia, creating an insurance tip sheet, writing a story for NovaMuse, reviewing webinars, and creating a learning activity, to name a few.

I have become more familiar with museum work, museums in Nova Scotia, Mi’kmaq culture, and Nova Scotian geography. I can’t wait to travel to Nova Scotia after my internship is done and get to know the province a bit better in person.

Thank you so much to the entire team for hosting me during the internship, and having me join your team for the past two months. I will always remember this experience and what I have learned during my time at the Association of Nova Scotia Museums. I’m sure the experience will benefit me in the future.

Warmly,

Meredith
