Hello! My name is Claire and I’m so excited to be part of the Association of Nova Scotia Museums team this summer as Digital Collections intern. I’m currently completing the Museum Management and Curatorship program at Fleming College, located in Peterborough, Ontario. For our third semester we complete an internship and I’ll be spending mine in beautiful Halifax!

I’ve always loved history and heritage since I was young, and began my museum journey as a volunteer with the Dundas Museum and Archives in 2019 working on everything from cataloguing, exhibition development, educational programming, to cleaning haunted dolls! Since then, I have completed my undergraduate degree in History at Brock University, and have worked for the City of Hamilton and the Dundas Museum in a variety of positions, including archives technician assistant, historical interpreter, social media manager, administration, and facility attendant. An interesting fact about me is that I collect Red Rose Tea figurines, and in my spare time I love to stay active, whether that be hiking, doing yoga, rock climbing, or kick boxing! I also love to read, cook, explore museums, and spend time with my friends.

To me, museums represent the importance of knowledge dissemination, preservation of human culture and heritage, as well as spaces for us to reflect on our past and future. I’m looking forward to meeting new people, acquiring new skills, supporting ANSM, and exploring Nova Scotia this summer!
