Hello everyone! My name is Emilie Surette and I am so excited to be interning over the next seven weeks with ANSM! I am completing this internship as a part of my final semester at Centennial College in their Museums and Cultural Management program.

Before beginning my museum studies journey, I studied Film and Media and got my masters in Screen Cultures and Curatorial Studies. During that time, I worked at Agnes Etherington Art Centre in Kingston, Ontario. This is where my love for museums really grew. At Agnes, I was able to help facilitate public programs and engage with my community through art. After leaving this job to move to the big city, I realized that working in museums was how I wanted to spend the rest of my career. I have since worked in several museums and galleries, and every time I learn something new.

Outside of museums you can find me working on a myriad of artistic projects. I love to sew, crochet, quilt, eco-process film and create short 3D animated videos. I am also a big cinephile so you can always find me at the movie theatre. I am eager to get started with ANSM and apply what I have learned over the past year in my program. I am also excited to learn more about Nova Scotia museums and see how these serve their communities.
