Message from ANSM President: New Executive Director Hired
Dear ANSM Members,
I hope you are all having successful summer seasons so far! This spring, I wrote a letter to inform you of an upcoming transition for the Association of Nova Scotia Museums—that current ANSM Executive Director Maggie MacIntyre, who was hired on a secondment agreement, would be finishing her contract with ANSM in September. As a result, ANSM posted the position for a new Executive Director in April, and continued the candidate search process throughout May and June.
I am very pleased to announce that we have filled the ED position with the hiring of our chosen candidate. And with that I would like to formally introduce Devin Casario, ANSM’s new Executive Director!
Devin brings a new and valuable skillset to ANSM, with a strong background in cultural organizations, non-profits, and community-driven operations. His experience in economic development and fund management will be an excellent addition to ANSM’s knowledgeable and vibrant team. Devin is passionate about pursuing meaningful projects in the creative and cultural industries, so we are excited to have him lead ANSM into continued growth and new opportunities.
Devin will begin his new role at ANSM on September 11, working alongside Maggie for two and a half weeks to facilitate as seamless a transition as possible. The ANSM board is very grateful not only for the incredible work Maggie has done for the association and its members over the last two years, but also for the careful effort she has put into ensuring that her successor will be well prepared to take the reins. We are also pleased to assure you that management of member programs— such as advisory services, collections management resources, training, and the newly redesigned TRACK program—will remain in the very capable hands of Program Manager Karin Kierstead.
I would like to extend a big thank you to the hiring committee of Joanne Boudreau, Oralee O’Byrne, Mark Peapell, and Andrea Davis for their time and dedication to the ED candidate search. Also, thank you to the board for their support during the process.
Devin is eager to give his absolute best to ANSM and its members, so we look forward to having you all get the opportunity to know him better, both through further communications once he takes on the ED role, and through in-person ANSM events in the coming months.
Wishing you all a wonderful summer and, as always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at katie@nsshf.com.
Sincerely,
Katie Tanner
ANSM President
