Introducing Danny!
My name is Danny Englehutt. I graduated from Dalhousie University in 2023 with a BA in History. Currently I am a part-time MA student in the Department of History at Saint Mary’s University. This semester, I am taking a class on public history and as a requirement for the class I have been placed with the Association of Nova Scotia Museums as a Digital Collections Assistant.
My project with the ANSM is to assess the Made in Nova Scotia database by reviewing records of various manufacturers from the 1600s-1980s. The primary focus of the project will be to identify manufacturers that can be linked to the 52 historic African Nova Scotian communities and create a Google map from the records.
I look forward to collaborating with the staff of the ANSM on this project and I hope my research will deepen our understanding of African Nova Scotian material culture.
