Hello everyone, my name is Sophie and I am going into my final year of a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Saint Mary’s University! I am currently working towards applying to  a Master’s program in Art Conservation, which is why I am excited to be interning at ANSM this summer to get some experience working with museums.

I am originally from Nagoya, Japan, and I moved to Halifax in 2021 to pursue higher education. I love learning about history and culture, especially when it comes to that of places with immense diversity such as Halifax. Since moving here, I have visited the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, and a few others, all of which I enjoyed. I am excited to be able to be connected with these museums and many others through my time here.

Outside of school, I like to be very social; whether it be at the climbing gym, cafes, or the public library, you can catch me spending time with my friends and family. In my alone time, I enjoy listening to and playing music, drawing, reading, sudoku, film photography, and drying and pressing flowers.

Thank you to ANSM for taking me on for this great opportunity, and I am excited to start working alongside an amazing group of people!
