Start Strong – Making the Most of Your Work Placement
New workplaces are challenging. You have to figure out the work culture and your responsibilities from both instruction and context in order to hit the ground running. This one-hour virtual session will help you communicate effectively with your supervisor(s) to get the answers you need to be successful, including how and when to ask questions, how to get responses when you need them, and what to do when you get stuck or if things go wrong.
Facilitator Bio
Karen Schaffer is the author of three books on careers (Hire Power, The Job of Your Life, and The Complete Book of Resumes) as well as a co-author of six guides for career professionals called Career Work in Action. She has been a Career Counsellor for 25 years, with nearly 15 of them spent at Saint Mary’s University. She has spoken to thousands of students over the years, and loves helping people understand themselves better. Karen holds a MA in Counselling Psychology from the Adler School, and writes creatively in her spare time.
